A year of Post Falls events: festival, parade, triathlon and craft fair

The Post Falls year: the July festival and its Seltice Way parade, an August triathlon from Q'emiln Park, trick-or-treat at City Hall and a craft fair.

Most of the public calendar in Post Falls is run by the city's own Parks and Recreation department, so most of it lives in one place: the city's events page and its seasonal activity guide. This guide walks through a year in order. The dates below are the 2026 ones the city published. Dates shift a little every year, so treat them as the shape of the year and check the city's events page for the current ones.

January and February: planning season

The city's calendar opens with planning. Shelter reservations for the coming summer open in early January, first come, first served: for 2027 the city takes them from January 4 for a season that runs April 12 to October 3. If you want the Grand Pavilion at Q'emiln Park for a July reunion, that is the day to call.

Mid-January brings the Post Falls Bridal Tour and Special Event Fair, a free one-day event spread over two venues, the Trailhead Event Center in Q'emiln Park and the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center on North William Street. It is aimed at anyone planning a wedding or a large party, with vendors at both sites. The next one is set for Saturday, January 16.

In early February the city holds a Father-Daughter Dance for girls 4 to 15 with a father or another adult, at Prairie View Elementary on East Poleline Avenue. The next one is Saturday, February 6, with registration open from November 1.

Late spring: the river opens

The Q'emiln Park boat launch has no fixed opening day. Avista sets it each year from water levels, weather and the effect on the dam, and it usually reopens in late spring or early summer. In 2026 it opened on June 5. The shelter season starts in April.

July: the Post Falls Festival

The festival is the biggest weekend of the city's year, held on the second weekend of July. In 2026 it ran Friday, July 10 through Sunday, July 12, with live music, food vendors, arts and crafts and a free shuttle. Vendor hours were 11 am to 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday. A homemade craft fair ran on the Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm.

The parade steps off at 10 am on the festival Saturday. The route starts at Frederick Street and Seltice Way and runs east along Seltice to Idaho Road. The 2026 theme was America 250, for the country's 250th year.

Plan around the closures. On parade day in 2026 the city closed East Seltice Way between Spokane and Idaho, North Frederick Street between Seltice and 6th Avenue, and North Idaho Street between Seltice and 5th Avenue, and closed East 6th Avenue between Frederick and Idaho to through traffic for staging. Traffic went north to Mullan Avenue and south to 4th Avenue.

The festival also shuts the boat launch. In 2026 it closed from 7 pm on the Thursday before through the Monday after, with no overnight parking on the Wednesday and Thursday.

Early August: the triathlon

The Post Falls Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon starts at Q'emiln Park at 7 am on a Sunday in early August; in 2026 that was August 2. It is open to ages 14 and up.

  • Triathlon: a 0.3-mile swim at Q'emiln Beach, a 12-mile bike ride west on Riverview Drive to the Washington border and back by the Centennial Trail and the commerce area, then a 3-mile run out from Q'emiln to Falls Park and back.
  • Duathlon: a 1.3-mile run to Falls Park and back, the same 12-mile bike course, then a 3.1-mile run.

Packet pickup in 2026 was on the Friday afternoon at City Hall, the Saturday afternoon at Q'emiln Park, and early on race morning at the park. Every racer shows a photo ID at check-in, and USA Triathlon members show their card or buy a one-day license. Nobody can pick up a packet for someone else.

If you are not racing, expect cyclists on Riverview Drive and runners on the path to Falls Park that morning.

Fall: tournaments and trick-or-treat

The adult side of the fall and winter activity guide, for players 16 and up, runs three tournaments: Pumpkin Bowl men's flag football in October, Wild Turkey co-ed dodgeball in November and Holly Jolly women's volleyball in December, each taking registrations from August 1.

At the end of October, City Hall at 408 North Spokane Street turns into a trick-or-treat stop for an afternoon. In 2026 it is Friday, October 30, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, free, with costumes encouraged and an "Under the Sea" theme.

November: the Holiday Craft Fair

The Holiday Craft Fair reaches its eighth year in 2026, on Saturday, November 7, from 9 am to 3 pm. It runs at two places at once, the Trailhead Event Center at 12361 West Parkway Drive and the Black Bay Depot at 1211 East 3rd Avenue, with handmade gifts and holiday decorations from local vendors. Admission and parking are free. Crafters who want a booth apply to the city; the 2026 deadline was October 18.

Winter

The city's winter calendar adds Winterfest and a plaza market, with the vendor application opening October 1. Check the events page for the dates. The Coeur d'Alene weather station a few miles east averages about 28 inches of snow a winter, most of it in December and January.

Through the summer: the Landing

Post Falls Landing, next to Falls Park, was built with an amphitheater and a plaza as a venue for concerts. Watch the city's events calendar for what is on there.

Using our listings

Our Things to Do, Parks and Outdoors, and Museums and Galleries categories list the places named here, and the Hotels, Restaurants and Coffee Shops pages help if you are coming in for the festival weekend. We do not run an events calendar. The city's own events page has the dates, and it is the one to trust.
